About ICI

The Infrastructure Condition Index is a free public information service about buildings and the conditions around them, in Canada and the United States.

What ICI does

ICI brings three kinds of information together in one place: long-run climate readings and official weather alerts for an area, public records about building equipment and recalls, and what a building's owner or manager knows about its systems.

Each figure names where it came from: the station, period and publisher of a climate reading; the agency behind a recall notice; or the visitor's own answer, marked as such. Where nobody knows something, ICI says so rather than filling the gap.

Who it is for

Homeowners and buyers, housing providers and property managers, contractors, insurers, governments and community organizations: anyone who needs to understand a building and the conditions it faces before making a decision about it.

What it is not

ICI is not an inspection, a certification, an engineering opinion or a forecast. A climate reading describes a station over 30 years, not a particular building. Where something needs a qualified professional, ICI says so.

Who runs it

ICI is operated by Harmelo Corp., based in Calgary, Alberta. Harmelo also offers separate commercial services for organizations; ICI's public tools stay free to use, and using them does not sign anyone up for anything. See the Privacy Policy for how information entered on ICI is handled.
